Scope and Contents (1) ‘Etrennes ou conseils (avis) d’un homme de qualité à sa fille’; this is a translation into French of ‘Advice to a daughter’, which was printed among ‘Miscellanies of the late lord Marquess of Halifax’, London, 1700 (and see MSS Dd.06.15, Dd.09.42 and Dd.11.56); (2) an explanation of some of the statutes of Merton College, Oxford, written when Richard Lydal was Warden (1693-1704); (3) ‘A paraphrase on the song of the three children, in irregular stanzas’, a poem of 44 stanzas of about 20...

Translation into French of ‘Advice to a daughter’, which was printed among ‘Miscellanies of the late lord Marquess of Halifax’, London, 1700. This appears to be a rough draft of the translation of which the most finished form is to be found in MS Dd.05.77, no. 1 (and see also MSS Dd.06.15 and Dd.09.42).
